Butternut and Walnut Cremation Urn with Nesting Keepsake Tray

I present here one of my latest creations, a butternut and walnut cremation urn with a nesting keepsake tray and gold leaf details.
 
This truly one-of-a-kind handcrafted cremation urn brings together the gentle, caramel warmth of butternut and the deep, grounded richness of walnut, creating a serene and harmonious two-tone design. At the top sits a nesting keepsake tray—perfect for holding small mementos, letters, or meaningful tokens.
 
A subtle line of gold-leaf detailing flows across the cambium that is just beneath where the bark was, echoing the spirit of kintsugi. Another touch is added in the knot. Rather than true traditional materials, I use imitation gold leaf, that is copper and zinc, careful about the ethical sourcing of materials. This is my artistic interpretation of an ancient craft, honoring the philosophy of embracing and highlighting the beauty in imperfections.
 
The wood is treated with a high-quality and eco-friendly finish, enhancing its natural beauty and providing a soft and satiny appearance. Inside the urn, the same finish is applied, followed by a layer of beeswax, creating a smooth and gentle surface to hold your loved one’s ashes.
