Minimalist Ambrosia Maple Cremation Urn

Presenting here one of my latest creations, a minimalist ambrosia maple cremation urn, simple yet full of character. Crafted entirely from ambrosia maple, this luminous urn showcases the visual qualities of this distinct wood. The lines and color variations ranging from brown to gray and black signify the past presence of a bark beetle and the growth of fungi within the delicate galleries. However, after the wood has been dried, these tiny organisms are no longer present, making the wood highly sought after for its beautiful virtues. 
 
I believe that in choosing this particular piece of wood for crafting the urn, there is a beautiful balance between the pale and consistent grain and the pronounced markings, creating a visually captivating composition. This wood, native to our region, truly exemplifies the diversity of natural beauty and the passage of life and time. Its finish is a high-quality, eco-friendly oil meticulously applied by hand in multiple layers to achieve a smooth and satin-like appearance. The interior of the urn also has an additional thin layer of beeswax, polished into a smooth surface to preserve the ashes of your loved one.
