Landscape Inspired Birch and Maple Cremation Urn
Here is one of my latest funeral urns that I find particularly stunning. This sunset colored landscape inspired cremation urn is made of birch and maple wood. It is a perfect urn for nature lovers and those who appreciate wide open spaces, providing a unique way to pay a final tribute to your departed loved one.
I had kept this unique grain birch board for a long time, which makes up the upper part of the urn. It comes from a woodland in St-Ferréol-les-Neiges, 50km away from my workshop. After being cut, the wood was not immediately dried, which explains the various gray and cream-colored marks on the wood that was starting to deteriorate, ultimately giving this piece its unique character.
To achieve continuity in the grain and especially an almost symmetrical pattern, I split and unfolded the piece of wood to reveal a reflection of an image. An horizon and a mountain in the clouds, I find so much poetry in it. As for the maple wood, it was chosen and cut in quartersawn to reveal its more regular grain, discreetly but with so much beauty. This sparkling pattern reminds me of sandy beaches or a calm body of water. I believe these two woods harmonize very well in warm tones and also find balance in their different grains, creating a visually interesting and expressive composition.
The wood is protected by a high-quality eco-friendly finish, enhancing its natural beauty and giving it a soft satin sheen. Inside the urn, the same finish is applied, followed by a thin layer of beeswax, creating a smooth and gentle surface to preserve the ashes of your loved one.
Dimensions: 7 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 8 3/8"
Capacity for ashes: 213 cubic inches
Please note that the flower stand shown is not included with the urn. However, if you would like to complement it with different elements such as stem holders, bookmarks, or reliquaries, it is possible to customize orders. Please contact me for any inquiries.
